Regenyl™ Wins Gold at the 2026 Sustainable Beauty Awards
Regenyl™, Kensing’s lower-carbon, palm-free, upcycled biosurfactant for personal care, has won Gold in the Sustainable Ingredient category at the 2026 Sustainable Beauty Awards in Paris. The award marks an achievement for Kensing and its partner AmphiStar, and for the teams whose collaboration brought Regenyl™ to life.
The Sustainable Ingredient category recognizes new ingredients that improve the sustainability profile of cosmetic and personal care products. It considers environmental impact, the sustainability credentials of raw materials, and innovation, putting the spotlight on both what an ingredient offers and how it is made.
For Regenyl™, the sustainability story began with 20 years of biotechnology development at AmphiStar, focused on upcycling byproducts and waste streams. Regenyl™ builds on this foundation by now integrating Kensing’s palm-free fatty acid by-product feedstocks into proprietary fermentation processes, bringing a circular approach to surfactant sourcing. It connects the industry’s growing demand for more sustainable, lower-carbon surfactant ingredients with the practical performance needs of personal care formulators.
For formulators, Regenyl™ offers a mild, biodegradable biosurfactant designed to support gentle skin cleansing and a smooth skin feel. It provides a way to bring upcycled ingredients into personal care formulations while keeping performance and the consumer experience central to product development.
“Regenyl™ reflects the direction we believe personal care innovation needs to take: using biotechnology to transform underutilized resources into performing ingredients that help our customers build more resilient supply chains and achieve their decarbonization goals. This recognition is an important milestone in our collaboration with AmphiStar and demonstrates how circularity and performance can come together to shape the next generation of responsible beauty.”
— Denis Bendejacq, SVP of Research & Innovation, Kensing.
